Known Bug with ATi 5700 series cards:
Game starts with a black screen and says beta on the top right corner then closes

Work around:
1. go to your Steam\steamapps\common\battlefield bad company 2 beta\
2. move or delete the d3dx11_42.dll from that folder
3. Start the game, you should be runnning in DX10 now

PS: There might other ways but that’s a quick fix I found for my friend
